Latitude, Longitude, and Coordinate Conversion

This free, on-line coordinate conversion tool lets you translate Latitude, Longitude, and other coordinates to and from more than 40 world- wide projections.  To use the tool, simply follow the steps by number, entering the required data (for detailed instructions, see below). We have provided this Coordinate Conversion utility to illustrate the capabilities of our product GPS2CAD. Use it freely as our guest - no strings attached!

 This Latitude, Longitude and Coordinate Translation page illustrates just a few of the capabilities of GPS2CAD, an indispensible program for bringing together GPS and CAD. It allows you to connect your hand held Global Positioning System (GPS) unit to your computer, download your waypoints, and plot them in AutoCAD (or your favorite CAD program). It also plots the points on free public domain Aerial photos and Topo maps. It is comaptible with most Garmin and Magellan GPS units, and AutoCAD 2000, through 2009. In addition, it provides coordinate translation (conversion) from WGS84 to most popular datums including NAD 27, NAD 83 and State Plane Coordinates.  We hope you'll take a look at  GPS2CAD.com

Detailed Instructions:

  1. Choose the input datum or grid that your coordinates are in. They may be either Cartesian (X and Y coordinates), or Geodetic, (Latitude anbd Longitude).
  2. Select the Angular units - if using Lat/Long coordinates for input, select the format method you will use. If using X,Y coordinates, this option is disabled.
    or
    Select Linear Units - if using X,Y cooorinates, select the units that the input data is in - international Ft., US. Ft. or Meters. If using Lat/Long coordinates, this option is disabled.
  3. Enter the Input data - the format you will see depends on the previous selections. DO NOT enter "+ or -" for hemishpere designations - this information is contained in the dropdown box.
  4. Choose the Output Datum or grid that you want the conversion made to.
  5. Select the Output Angular Units - if using Lat/Long coordinates for output, select the format method you will use. If using X,Y coordinates, this option is disabled.

    Select the Output Linear Units - if using X,Y cooorinates, select the units that the input data is in - internationa Ft., US. Ft. or Meters. If using Lat/Long coordinates, this optioh is disabled.
  6. Click CALCULATE. The input data will be validated first - If there are errors, correct as necessary. Otherwise, the answers will be displayed, formatted according to your selections.
